Delivering the highest quality, best possible assortment of merchandise at the lowest price point drives everything we do. Because only about 1 in 5 products available in our industry has the overall PERCEIVED VALUE necessary to sell in volume, Windy and her staff travel constantly, visiting suppliers on a very regular basis. The goal is always to find the newest, and most exciting products, then negotiate the lowest cost on each.  Only when we are able to do so do we present these products to our stores.  We learned many years ago that trying to buy from catalogues or online is a recipe for disaster!  It is impossible to evaluate the value of an item, or even its packaging, by looking at a picture, and of course, you cannot negotiate the cost.  Only by holding the item in your hand, can you determine its quality and value, and thus, decide what we should pay for the product; this is why we must travel, providing the best possible products and values to you. Because our network of stores is so large, our suppliers ship inner packs to our stores. This means that instead of having to order master cartons of 72 or 144 pieces of an item, which is standard in our industry, our suppliers will ship as little as 12 or 24 pieces of an item.  This allows our store owners to have much greater variety with the least amount of inventory dollars, ensuring quick turnover and a constantly changing merchandise assortment.  Imagine the additional sales that are created by having 4 or 5 times the variety of different products in the store. Training and Support:

Many new store-owners have retail and management experience, or have owned businesses previously. For those that do not, customized, thorough training is available. Manuals, workbooks, and other materials are used to guide the store-owner through the operational aspects of running a retail business. This training typically begins several weeks prior to the build-out, and includes follow up training support once the store has opened.Once your lease is signed, Dollar Store ServicesOperations Manager will be in constant contact with every new store-owner. Together, they will coordinate the pre-build-out process, ensuring that all permits and licenses required have been addressed, and follow through with landlords and contractors to make sure that the store space is ready as quickly as possible. Members of the Operations Staff will work with you on the sourcing and design of your exterior signage, and later will coordinate the timely arrival of your opening orders; merchandise, equipment, and supplies.

Once the store space is ready, we send to the store site one of our Build-out Supervisors who will coordinate the build-out crew in the assembly and installation of fixtures, and the stocking of all merchandise. Store owners are encouraged to be available during the build-out process, as the Build-out Supervisor will be demonstrating various stocking techniques, set up of the cash registers, and freight processing. On the last day of the build-out, the store is ready to open.

Securing permits, completing all the necessary documents required by various government entities to establish your business, opening bank accounts, discussing grand opening promotions and issuing press releases to maximize the exposure of your store's grand opening are just of few of the many items we will review and check off prior to YOUR store's opening.Many new store-owners have retail and management experience, or have owned businesses previously. For those that do not, customized, thorough training is available. Manuals, workbooks, and other materials are used to guide the store-owner through the operational aspects of running a retail business. This training typically begins several weeks prior to the build-out, and includes follow-up training support once the store has opened.

At the end of the first 30 days of each new store’s business, Dollar Store Services, Inc. offers to perform a formal review of the store. The Store Owner submits a video of the entire store; we review the video in conjunction with the daily sales records, purchasing log, advertising history, payroll information, and the first month’s Profit and Loss Statement. Our Senior Management Staff participates in this 30-day review in an effort to confirm the new owners understand the workings of their business and are headed in the right direction. Additionally, at this same time, we will provide each owner with a form and ask them to grade our performance in the many areas involved in the setting up of their new store; we welcome your suggestions.
